Reading a Dashboard as an Analyst
Before you trust a spike or a dip, ask what the chart is silently excluding.
Dashboards compress reality. Filters drop cohorts. Time zones shift daily totals. Marketing attribution can double-count the same conversion. Analysts who skip those questions ship recommendations on fiction.
Our data literacy sessions teach a short checklist: definition of the metric, population included, population excluded, refresh latency, and known incidents that could skew the window you are looking at.
You do not need to rebuild the pipeline. You need enough literacy to ask data partners precise questions and to refuse conclusions that the numbers cannot support.
Bring a real dashboard from your workplace to the clinic hour. We practice the checklist live so the habit sticks beyond the classroom.
